Shout! Factory Secures North American Rights to Lena Khan's The Tiger Hunter

Shout! Factory, a leading multi-platform media company, has acquired North American rights to writer/director Lena Khan’s comedy feature, THE TIGER HUNTER from Red Sea Media, Inc. Directed by Khan and written by Sameer Gardezi (Modern Family) and Khan, the film stars Danny Pudi (Community, Powerless), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory), Rizwan Manji (The Wolf of Wall Street, Outsourced), Karen David (Once Upon a Time, Galavant), Sam Page (House of Cards, Mad Men), Iqbal Theba (Glee, Seinfeld), Parvesh Cheena (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Outsourced), with Michael McMillan (Silicon Valley, True Blood) and Kevin Pollak (The Unusual Suspects, A Few Good Men). Produced by Megha Kadakia, Lena Khan and Nazia Khan, THE TIGER HUNTER, bolstered by vibrant storytelling and boisterous comic spirit, is a timely and topical comedy that captures a young immigrant’s pursuit for success, love and the American dream with humor and heart. The film has garnered numerous festival awards, press acclaim and great audience enthusiasm. The announcement was made today by Shout! Factory’s founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos, Shout’s Vice President of Acquisitions, Jordan Fields, and filmmaker Lena Khan.

Shout! Factory has secured all North American distribution rights to THE TIGER HUNTER, including theatrical, on-demand, digital, broadcast and home entertainment for cross-platform releases in the U.S. and Canada. Shout! Factory plans a strategic rollout of this movie across multiple platforms, beginning with a theatrical launch this fall through Shout! Factory Films.

The Tiger Hunter is a big-hearted, dimensional comedy about a love-struck and ambitious immigrant who learns what it means to be a success. With Lena’s film it was love at first sight. The humor is knowing, the cast is charming and the story is nothing if not timely,” stated Jordan Fields, Vice President of Acquisitions at Shout! Factory.

“There is a combination of humor, soul, and social relevancy that we believe has made this film resonate so immensely with audiences, and we are thrilled to have a company that embodies these same qualities and also believes in the core of the film. At its heart, The Tiger Hunter is about the choice between chasing aspirations...and love. It's about embracing the glory in who we already are,” stated filmmaker Lena Khan.

The film deal was negotiated by Jordan Fields for Shout! Factory and Roman Kopelevich on behalf of Red Sea Media, Inc.
