“A bizarre, creepily effective tale from horror legend Wes Craven!” – The Cult Movie Guide

When a former member of a religious cult dies in a mysterious accident, his wife Martha (Maren Jensen, Battlestar Gallactica), who now lives alone and close to the cult’s church, begins to fear for her life and the lives of her visiting friends (Susan Buckner, Sharon Stone). Strange and deadly events begin to happen… Could she be the target of the evil cult and its fanatical leader Isaiah (Ernest Borgnine)?

Directed by Wes Craven (Scream, A Nightmare on Elm Street) and starring Jeff East (Pumpkinhead), Lisa Hartman (The 17th Bride) and Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), this consistently terrifying film delivers “unpredictable plot twists” (Time Out) and visual shocks galore.

Why We Love It

The color palette comes through very nicely with bold rendering in the primaries and warm secondary hues. Facial complexions appear natural with good textural details. Overall definition and resolution are actually excellent and distinct bearing in mind the photography. All in all, it's a worthy and pleasing high-def presentation for a Wes Craven catalog. - M. Enois Duarte, High-Def Digest

Arriving on Blu-ray from Shout! Factory's side project Scream Factory, Deadly Blessing looks as handsome as possible, given it was shot with that ubiquitous combination of film stock and filters that resulted in the sun-kissed early-'80s Dallas look. – Eric Henderson, Slant Magazine

The Scream Factory release really goes all out in restoring the film, and providing fans with a nice array of extra content. RECOMMENDED. – Scott MacDonald, Euro Cult AV

Shout! Factory provides a generous amount of supplemental materials for a lesser known title and fans will be surprised by some of these treats. – ZigZag, Horror Talk
