BRIEF ENCOUNTER (1974)

Richard Burton and Sophia Loren headline this remake of the classic 1945 film written by Noel Coward. A social worker (Loren) and a doctor (Burton) meet by chance in a railway station, but are almost instantly captivated by each other, although they are each already married. The pair soon develop a connection that evolves into an unexpected love. A bittersweet drama about muted romance, featuring two of cinema’s all-time biggest stars.

THE TAMARIND SEED (1974)

A man and a woman on opposite sides of the Cold War fall for each other in this romantic drama from writer-director Blake Edwards (Breakfast at Tiffany’s). Julie Andrews plays Judith, an assistant with the British Home Office who is on vacation in the Caribbean. Sparks fly when she meets Soviet military expert Feodor (Omar Sharif), but Judith’s superiors question his intentions.
