Description

All 81 Original Casper Cartoons Made Between 1945 – 1963 In One Collection!

This set includes all of the theatrical shorts and the 1963 television series — over 7 hours of spooktacular entertainment!

Casper is the most famous ghost on earth, but unlike his spooky brethren, he doesn't like to haunt or scare — he spends his time looking to make friends. In the original Paramount cartoons, Casper would often frighten some unsuspecting grown-up while befriending "Little Billy" or a small animal, but he'd then rescue one of them from a perilous predicament to become a local hero. In the Harvey comics, Casper would explore an enchanted forest, while the antagonizing Ghostly Trio would tease and heckle. Friends like cousin Spooky, Wendy the Good Witch and Nightmare the Ghostly Horse round out Casper's supporting cast.

In 1945 Casper made his first appearance when Paramount released The Friendly Ghost. Casper reappeared when Paramount released There's Good Boos To-Night in 1948 and A Haunting We Will Go in 1949. In 1950, as Casper gained tremendous popularity, Paramount expanded the cartoons into an entire television series. Casper quickly became one of the most celebrated cartoon characters in popular culture.

In December of 1952 Harvey became the sole publisher of Casper comic books. Four years later, Harvey acquired the Casper character and went on to publish the Casper line of comic books for more than 40 years. Casper has since starred in the Steven Spielberg–produced Casper feature film, two additional made-for-video films and a top-rated animated television series. See where it all began with this collector's edition set!
