SHOUT! FACTORY AND ALIEN PRODUCTIONS ENTER STRATEGIC ENTERTAINMENT DISTRIBUTION ALLIANCE

Shout! Factory, a multi-platform media company, and Alien Productions announced a landmark distribution alliance to bring the iconic and fan-favorite ALF television library to digital entertainment platforms in the U.S. The announcement was made today by Shout! Factory’s founders and CEOs Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; Alien Productions’ partners Paul Fusco and Brian Patchett; Gene Pao, Shout’s Executive Vice President of Strategy and Digital; and Jeffrey Peisch, Shout’s Senior Vice President of Programming & New Business Development.

The multi-year alliance provides Shout! Factory and its multi-platform streaming service, Shout! Factory TV with exclusive U.S. rights (digital, broadcast, and home entertainment packaged media) to Alien Productions’ ALF content properties, including 102 episodes of the live-action series ALF, 26 episodes of ALF: The Animated Series, and 21 episodes of ALF Tales (animated) for home entertainment releases and digital distribution across select entertainment platforms in North America.

Shout! Factory, in collaboration with Alien Productions, will support these titles with a long-term growth strategy that entails new content development, digital media initiatives, and content syndication (streaming, EST, and VOD) to the domestic territory.

Leveraging unparalleled access to archived content and the original broadcast masters from Alien Productions, Shout! Factory TV plans an aggressive rollout of ALF pop culture content on all its platforms this year. As excitement builds, Shout! Factory TV and Alien Productions will announce additional news and activities in the forthcoming months.

“I couldn’t be more excited that Shout! Factory will be marketing and distributing ALF and working with the series’ creators, Paul Fusco and Tom Patchett. ALF was an instant classic when it debuted on network television over 30 years ago, and the series stands the test of time and appeals to multiple generations,” stated Jeffrey Peisch, Senior Vice President of Programming & New Business Development.

“Based on our experience working with iconic properties like Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Johnny Carson Show, and The Carol Burnett Show, we are looking forward to presenting new ways to experience ALF that leverage the unique capabilities of the digital medium. This will not only give existing fans an opportunity to reengage with the show, but also appeal to new viewers who missed the show’s initial run on broadcast television,” stated Gene Pao, Shout’s Executive Vice President of Strategy and Digital.

"Shout! Factory is the home-away-from-Melmac that ALF has been looking for. We're looking forward to bringing you ALF in a totally new way -- with new content, unseen art, and restored footage not seen in 30 years. This is the moment ALF fans have been waiting for," stated Brian Patchett and Paul Fusco of Alien Productions.

This content deal was negotiated by Steven Katz, Vice President of Business Affairs for Shout! Factory, and Matthew V. Feil of Rowan | Maron | Feil on behalf of Alien Productions.

ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. The Tanners offer him a home and give him the nickname ALF, short for “Alien Life Form.” Created by Tom Patchett (The Carol Burnett Show) and Paul Fusco (also the puppeteer for ALF), the half-hour sitcom rose to popularity in the late 1980s cementing itself in the pop culture zeitgeist.
