Shout! Studios, the multi-platform filmed entertainment distribution and production arm of Shout! Factory, has acquired North American rights to A DARK PLACE (a.k.a. STEEL COUNTRY), an enthralling new crime thriller directed by Simon Fellows (Malice in Wonderland) and written by Brendan Higgins. The film stars Andrew Scott (Sherlock, Spectre), Bronagh Waugh (The Fall, Hollyoaks), and Denise Gough (Colette, Juliet, Naked). A Bedlam Film, Zero Gravity, Motion Picture Capital, and Cuckoo Lane production, A DARK PLACE is produced by Gareth Ellis-Unwin (The King’s Speech), Leon Clarance (Sense8), Mark Williams (The Accountant), and Tai Duncan (Proud Mary). Peter Hampden, Norman Merry, Jo Monk, and Laure Vaysse serve as executive producers. The announcement was made today by Shout! Factory’s founders and CEOs Bob Emmer and Garson Foos, Stephen Kelliher, Director and Head of Sales & Marketing at Bankside Films, film producer Gareth Ellis-Unwin, and Jordan Fields, Vice President of Acquisitions at Shout! Studios.
Shout! Studios has secured all North American rights to A DARK PLACE, including theatrical, video-on-demand, digital, broadcast, and home entertainment for cross-platform releases in the U.S. and Canada. Shout! Studios plans to launch this movie across multiple entertainment distribution platforms in 2019. “

Movie synopsis:
When a young boy turns up dead in a sleepy Western Pennsylvania town, Donald, a local garbage truck driver, takes it upon himself to play detective. He embarks on an obsessive investigation to prove that the boy had been murdered, leading to unthinkable and harrowing consequences.
