Shout! Studios, the multi-platform entertainment distribution and production arm of Shout! Factory, and Urban Distribution International (UDI) announced a new entertainment distribution deal for animated feature THE PRINCE’S VOYAGE, directed by the venerable French animator Jean-François Laguionie (The Painting, Cannes Palme d'Or winner Rowing Across the Atlantic) and Xavier Picard (King Arthur and the Knight of Justice). Shout! Studios has secured all US distribution rights to THE PRINCE’S VOYAGE, including theatrical and home entertainment rights (digital, video-on-demand, broadcast, and all packaged media) for cross-platform releases in the United States. The announcement was made today by Melissa Boag, Shout’s Senior Vice President of Family Entertainment, and Louise Ronzet, Head of Sales at Urban Distribution International.
A production of Blue Spirit Productions (Oscar®-nominated My Life as a Zucchini) and Melusine Productions (Wolfwalkers), THE PRINCE’S VOYAGE screened at The Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, New York Animation First, and Chicago International Film Festival to great audience enthusiasm. Filmmaker Jean-François Laguionie received an Honorary Cristal Award at the 2019 Annecy for his illustrious career in animation.
“We are excited about this new opportunity with UDI. The Prince’s Voyage is a beautiful and thoughtful film and an exciting adventure that promotes acceptance and diversity – a poignant, timely theme,” stated Melissa Boag, Shout’s Senior Vice President of Family Entertainment.
“The Prince’s Voyage is an important social and ecological fable for young and old alike. We are very happy that it found a great home in the US with Shout!, marking the 25th territory the film will be distributed in,” stated Louise Ronzet, Head of Sales at UDI.
The deal was negotiated by Shout’s Jordan Fields, Vice President of Acquisitions, and Louise Ronzet at UDI.
THE PRINCE’S VOYAGE
An old monkey Prince runs aground on an unknown shore. Injured and lost, he is found by 12-year-old Tom, and taken in by his parents, a couple of scientists who were banished from their community because they believe in the existence of other monkey civilizations. With Tom’s help, the Prince discovers a society he knows nothing about, while Tom’s parents decide to use him to prove that their theory was indeed correct.
