Shout! Studios Announces The New Feature Remake of Roger Corman Horror Classic SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE for SYFY

Shout! Studios, the multi-platform filmed entertainment distribution and production arm of Shout! Factory announced today a new horror feature, SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE. Drawing influence from the original movie, SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE is the contemporary re-imagining of the Roger Corman cult classic of the same name. The movie completed its principal photography last month in South Africa and will premiere on SYFY in late 2021. The announcement was made today by Shout’s founders and CEOs Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Brent Haynes, Head of Original Content Development at Shout! Studios.

Filmmaker Danishka Esterhazy (Vagrant Queen, The Banana Splits Movie) is directing SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE from a screenplay by Suzanne Keilly (Ash vs Evil Dead, Leprechaun Returns). Shout! Studios has tapped Blue Ice Pictures (Spinning Out, Vagrant Queen) to serve as producers. Executive Producers are Brent Haynes, Bob Emmer, Garson Foos, and Jordan Fields. SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE is developed and executive produced by Shout! Studios.

Shout! Studios and Brent Haynes are working closely with Esterhazy, Keilly, and the team in the production process. With an eye toward a late 2021 air date on SYFY, Shout! Studios is handling the movie’s worldwide sales and distribution across multiple platforms.

“We’re thrilled to partner with SYFY on Slumber Party Massacre. Ever since we acquired the New Horizon Picture library, encompassing 270 Roger Corman films, we’ve been looking for opportunities to co-develop new content and remakes. We look forward to combining our efforts and hope this is just the start of a long and rewarding relationship,” stated Shout’s founders and CEOs Bob Emmer and Garson Foos.

“Remaking one of the seminal films of Roger Corman and Amy Holden Jones’ early work is exciting and audacious. But there are no better hands in which to place this challenge to Danishka Esterhazy, Suzanne Keilly, and the team at Blue Ice Pictures. Their creative vision will both honor the Corman ethos and captivate today’s audiences,” stated Brent Haynes, Shout’s Head of Original Content Development.

The deal was negotiated by Bruce Eisen, The Law Offices of Bruce David Eisen for Shout! Studios and SYFY.
